How about a spanish dragon for the privateer? Seized from a raid of precious cargo being transported on frigate, captured in a daring raid?

In a nutshell my character is a common-born British sailor, turned mutineer, turned corsair, turned privateer after receiving a pardon after finding an egg on a taken ship. So he couldn't have taken a British ship or egg, else they would have hung him instead of offering a pardon for the service. So I had to go foreign. As the most common spots for corsairs/pirates during this period were along the Barbary coast in Turkey and Spanish ships returning from the New World, a Turkish or Incan dragon made the most sense based on the options open. The former would have been an intercepted sultanate convoy being shipped from the Ottoman Empire to a purchasing continental power. The latter would have been a captured Incan egg sent from the Viceroy of New Spain as an intended gift to the Spanish Crown. As I reserved a heavyweight that narrowed down my choices to the two I proposed and were vetoed. Thought was put into this. Not trying to be difficult, but kind of making me force a square peg into a round hole now with the only explanation being that the Turkish one is "too powerful" and the Incan one just a flat no.
I could maybe make a Spanish/French one work but that comes with the question as to why continental powers would be shipping dragon eggs over water.

Well, spain had a large amount of colonization going on at the time, perhaps it was a gift meant for the ruling spanish family across the sea? Or maybe as a future weapon to defend their colonies from inca or european incursion? Either way, a Cauchador Real would be a valued prize for anyone to get, and could provide some interesting oppurtunties in roleplay/be a good compromise of having a foreign dragon that's not french or your options.

That could work. Would just be a reverse of the Incan idea. A gift from the king to the viceroy of New Spain instead of vice versa. Could even do a Caucador Real/Grande Chevalier cross as an attempt by the continental powers to show catholic unity against the Protestant threat.
The issue there again though is that no pirate would take a ship bound for the new world. 90% of the time that just meant a ship full of soldiers. One returning from the new world however typically meant gold or silver.

Ok, Zack, your motives are a lot clearer now you've explained your concept.

Perhaps next time you could explain the method before you reveal the madness But we'll see what happens.

Haha or maybe I've earned a teensy bit of trust at this point. The origin of the dragon needed to match the unique circumstances in which the character found himself in possession of one. I know my history, especially my pirate history, so I found some options that fit. I've never made an RP decision for the sake of powergaming or being a special snowflake.

The circumstances weren't very clear at the time of the request. Sorry but I thought you had Sports Car Syndrome for a moment.

Now what I want to know is why the papacy or italian states don't have any dragons? I want to see a dragon riding pope. I'm 99% sure there are dragons in Italy. The problem is that we don't know about them because no Italian dragonriders have appeared in the books. The closest thing the books have to an Italian is Napoleon and, well, I am not even going to go there because of spoilers.

Zack, the way to get special things isn't to ask for them outright with no reasoning behind it, but to PM me and pitch an idea.
You can definitely have a Spanish or French hybrid or sommething. But talk to me in PM about the breeds or whatever. We can work something out for your salty seaman devilish rogue.

I hope we have dragon riding paladins and templars for the french and church respectively.
The Dragons of Charlemagne, burning heathens since the Byzantine.
